A Marquette University College of Nursing doctoral student is seeking healthy pregnant women ages 18 to 40 years old from the Marquette community to participate in a two week study of the prebiotic fiber supplement. The purpose of the study is to test measures that will be used in a future study of the impact of prebiotic fiber during pregnancy.
Prebiotic fiber is an over the counter, tasteless, easily digestible powder that is taken orally. Pregnant women who participate may benefit from the prebiotic fiber by experiencing reduced hunger and constipation. Participants will receive a two week supply of the prebiotic at no cost and will be asked to complete some written forms and two noninvasive (no needles) laboratory tests.
At completion of the two week study, participants will be given a $20 Target gift card.
