Faculty promotions announced

March 23, 2017

Marquette University has promoted 15 faculty members to professor or associate professor with tenure, effective for the fall 2017 semester. Additionally, seven full-time participating faculty members were promoted to clinical professor, clinical associate professor or associate librarian, and 22 faculty members were conferred with emerita/emeritus status.

Promoted to professor are: Dr. Michael Monahan, Department of Philosophy; Dr. Anthony Peressini, Department of Philosophy; Dr. James South, Department of Philosophy; Dr. Alyson Gerdes, Department of Psychology; Dr. Miao Wang, Department of Economics; and Dr. Lisa Edwards, Department of Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology.

Promoted to associate professor with tenure are: Dr. Paul Nolette, Department of Political Science; Dr. Amber Wichowsky, Department of Political Science; Dr. Nakia Gordon, Department of Psychology; Dr. James Hoelzle, Department of Psychology; Dr. Nicholas Jolly, Department of Economics; Dr. Aaron Cho, Department of General Dental Science; Dr. Murray Blackmore, Department of Biomedical Sciences; Dr. Robert Wheeler, Department of Biomedical Sciences; and Mr. Ryan Scoville, Law School.

Full-time participating faculty members promoted to clinical professor are: Dr. Christopher Simenz and Dr. Tina Stoeckmann, both from the Department of Physical Therapy.

Full-time participating faculty members promoted to clinical associate professor are: Dr. Cecelia Landin, Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences; Dr. Laurieann Klockow and Dr. Khadijah Makky, both from the Department of Biomedical Sciences; and Mrs. Wendy Krueger, Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology.

Ms. Elizabeth Gibes was promoted to associate librarian.

Promoted to professor emerita are: Dr. Margaret Bull, College of Nursing; Ms. Patricia Cervenka, Law School; and Dr. Margaret Walker, Department of Philosophy.

Promoted to professor emeritus are: Dr. Syed Akhter, Department of Marketing; Dr. Benjamin Brown, Department of Physics; Dr. John Davis, Department of Economics; Dr. Raymond Fournelle, Department of Mechanical Engineering; Dr. Steve Goldzwig, Department of Communication Studies; Mr. Jay Grenig, Law School; Dr. Robert Griffin, Department of Journalism and Media Studies; Dr. James Holstein, Department of Social and Cultural Sciences; Dr. Peter Jones, Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Sciences; Dr. Steven Lysonski, Department of Marketing; Dr. Robert Masson, Department of Theology; Dr. John Pauly, Department of Journalism and Media Studies; Rev. David Schultenover, S.J., Department of Theology; and Dr. Mark Steinmetz, Department of Chemistry.

Promoted to associate professor emeritus are: Dr. Robert Jamison, Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, and Dr. James Trebby, Department of Accounting.

Full-time participating faculty members approved for emerita are: Ms. Diane Dressler, College of Nursing, clinical assistant professor emerita; Dr. Noreen Haas-Lephardt, Department of Economics, adjunct associate professor emerita, and Ms. Julia Jaet, Law School, librarian emerita.

The emerita/emeritus ranking takes effect upon retirement.

Dr. Joan Whipp, education policy and leadership, who recently passed away, was also approved for associate professor emerita.
