“Exploring the Power of Nonviolence: A Symposium on Just Peace,” will be held Friday, April 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in AMU 163.
This one-day interdisciplinary symposium will allow students, faculty, and the wider community a chance to take part in an ongoing international dialogue about the Catholic Church’s approach to peacemaking and nonviolence. The symposium will feature experts on nonviolence as well as Marquette student and faculty presenters.
In April of 2016, The Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace and Pax Christi International hosted a conference at The Vatican titled “Nonviolence and Just Peace: Contributing to the Catholic Understanding of and Commitment to Nonviolence.” As a response to this international conference, we plan to keep the conversation going through a campus-wide interdisciplinary symposium.
The event is sponsored by the Center for Peacemaking, the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences, and Good Shepherd Parish.
