Rev. General Arturo Sosa, S.J., has appointed Rev. Joseph Mueller, S.J., as the next rector of the Marquette University Jesuit Community effective July 31. Father Mueller is associate professor of theology at Marquette where he has been a faculty member since 1999. He served as associate dean for academic affairs from 2008 to 2010. More recently, he spent a term teaching in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, in 2011, and a semester of research work in Paris in 2011. He has served as province consultant for the Chicago-Detroit Province.
Rev. Jeffrey LaBelle, S.J., has generously served as rector of the Jesuit community at Marquette since 2011, which included assisting the community to prepare and move into a new building in 2015. After a sabbatical in the fall, Father LaBelle plans to continue his service at Marquette in the College of Education.
