Data Privacy Day, the international event designed to raise awareness and promote data privacy and data protection best practices, is Saturday, Jan. 28.
In response to the growing need to address cyber security, Marquette has created a Center for Cyber Security Awareness and Cyber Defense to promote awareness across campus, encourage research and educate future cyber professionals. The center encourages the Marquette community to become aware of available resources about Data Privacy Day and other cyber security concerns. The center suggests that all visit and subscribe to the monthly CyberAware Newsletter, which is produced by the National Cyber Security Alliance. This month’s issue features information about the following:
- 5 Digital To Dos to Help You and Your Family Stay Safer and More Secure in 2017
- Knowledge about common scams and how to avoid them
- #ChatSTC Twitter Chat: Managing Your Privacy in the Internet of Me
- TED-style talks for Data Privacy Day
In an increasingly digital world, knowledge about cyber security and privacy are important for all students, faculty and staff.
The Center for Cyber Security Awareness and Cyber Defense will also host a feature presentation on Data Privacy Thursday, Jan. 26.
