Dr. Grant J. Silva, assistant professor of philosophy, has been named a regional faculty associate of the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies.
The center has maintained a long-term relationship with many of the more than 100 Latin Americanist faculty members at public and private institutions in the upper Midwest who have been appointed as regional faculty associates.
Associates are eligible to compete for center-funded travel grants in support of their research, project or conference presentation in the area of Latin American and Caribbean studies. They also can apply for funding that would give partial support for Latin Americanist events organized at their institution.
The center also supports associates by connecting faculty from different institutions, providing educational and professional workshops and offering classroom support through a 1,400 item media library connection.
The center has served as a regional resource since 1965 and has been a consortium partner with the University of Wisconsin – Madison since 1973.
