IT Services is making use of cloud resources to provide increased value to the Marquette community. We have already moved email and SharePoint to the cloud. We have also migrated PCs to Office 365 versions of Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel).
Now we will start the process of migrating files stored in “Documents” (or “My Documents”) to OneDrive for Business. The benefits include:
- Increased storage
- Automated back-up of your data – data will be synced whenever your computer is connected to the Internet
- Improved access – access to files from anywhere on any device including smart phones.
- Improved collaboration – the ability to share files/folders with others both on and off campus.
We are starting the migration process the week of May 22 and will do it area by area so the process will take a couple of months to complete. An email will be sent to each user in the area prior to the migration process. Even though most of the process is automated, it still requires one manual step by each user which will be explained in the email.
