On Saturday, Oct. 18, what would have been Marquette University alumnus James Foley’s 41st birthday, Jesuit colleges and universities across the country will join his family in solidarity as they celebrate his life at a memorial service. Rev. Michael J. Sheeran, S.J., president of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities said, “Earlier this month, we invited our 28 member institutions to offer a Mass or inter-faith prayer service for peace in honor of James Foley’s contributions toward justice and freedom of the press, and in memory of all others who have died this year at the hands of ISIS.”
Beginning Thursday, Oct. 16, the following Jesuit colleges and universities will offer Masses, intentions or prayer services for Foley: Canisius College, College of the Holy Cross, Creighton University, Fordham University, Georgetown University, Gonzaga University, Le Moyne College, Loyola Marymount University, Loyola University Chicago, Rockhurst University, Saint Joseph’s University, Saint Louis University, Saint Peter’s University, Santa Clara University, Seattle University, Spring Hill College, University of Detroit Mercy, University of San Francisco and Xavier University.
Marquette will remember Foley during the Prayer of the Faithful during Masses on Sunday, Oct. 19, at the Chapel of the Holy Family in the AMU at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.
